Help: Membership: Billing and Renewal
| | |
The Billing link in Your Info shows you your membership and payments to date. This also will be where you renew and change aspects of your membership dues payments.
(MemberID's) Membership
This shows the type of membership you currently have active. The link is to the Home Page for that membership. Right now, we only have games memberships, and Beta memberships for our testers.
Payment History
This shows the amount you've paid so far, and the period of time that it covers.
If you paid by PayPal on a recurring membership, the period shown ends in 2012. This is because the membership will stay active by automatically renewing unless you cancel the recurring payments. If you used your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover with our new VeriSign processing, you are still set for automatic renewal, but the end date on the current period properly reflects the renewal date.
If you are a Charter Member, your period shows an end date of 2014, even though you actually don't have an expiration date at all. This is a limitation of the membership system that only assumes 10 years as a maximum membership. But don't worry - it's really forever, and we have 9 years to fix the system.
Renewal, and Automatic Renewal
If you pay by mail, you will receive an email (to your primary address) about a week before the current period expires, reminding you to put your payment in the mail. If you want to change from quarterly payment to annual or vice versa, just send the amount for the period that you want. If your payment arrives early, you will see the "future" period you have paid for in your billing information. If you want to know if we've received your payment by mail, just log into your account and see if it in your billing records.
If you paid by PayPal or with Visa, MasterCard or Discover with our processing, your membership will renew automatically when the period is up, unless you cancel the recurring payment (see below).
The system does not show the payment options while you have an active membership. This is to prevent people from accidentally paying for more than one active membership. If you wish to change from mail payment to credit card, simply let your membership period expire and you will be able to reactivate it immediately with your credit card as soon as it does.
If you want to change from PayPal to our credit card processing, or want to change from one length of membership to another with credit card processing, you'll first need to stop the automatic renewal. The membership will then expire at the end of the current period, and you'll be able to select a new membership period and/or payment option.
Stopping Automatic Renewal
If you have paid by PayPal or by credit card, and wish to stop the automatic renewal, there is a link beneath the payment that says Cancel (applies only to future payments). You can stop the automatic renewal and the recurring payment at any time before the end of the membership period.
Mail and e-Check Payments
We activate your account when we receive your check or notification of e-Check from PayPal. We know you want to play quickly and we trust you, so we activate your account immediately rather than waiting for the payment to clear.
If your check is returned unpaid, either for insufficient funds or because you have stopped payment on it, your account will be locked until the amount is paid plus a $10 dishonored check fee. Your membership period will continue to run, but you will not be able to play and you will not be able to sign up again until the full amount is paid. If you have mailed us a payment and find you are not going to have sufficient funds to cover it, email us immediately and let us know and we can hold it until you notify us to deposit it.
If you pay by e-Check with PayPal, you MUST wait for the check to clear before cancelling future payments. As long as your billing record shows $0.00 as a balance, your check has not yet cleared, and cancelling will stop the check.
Games4TV on Your Credit Card Statement
Your dues payment for Games4TV will show up on your credit card statement as IACTA LLC. That's our company's legal name, so if you see your statement and wonder "who's that?" it's us.
