Your password is the most important information to protect for your Games4TV account. If anyone else has it, you need to change your password to avoid having your account compromised.
Your Password
Your password must be at least 6 characters long. You may use any combination of letters and/or numbers. Passwords are case-sensitive, which means that upper case and lower case letters are NOT the same. If your password is something like "MyPass" and you enter "MYPASS" or "mypass", the system will not log you in. If you know your password is correct but it's not being recognized, check your CAPS lock.
NEVER use your Member ID as your password! If you have, please change it right away. Your Member ID will be displayed if you post your score to leaderboards, and it is the first thing someone would be likely to guess. Other easily-guessed passwords you should NEVER use include password, mygames, mypass, and letmein.
Changing Your Password
To change your password, click Your Info and then select Change Password. You will have a form in which to enter your new password twice (the second time is to check to make sure they match). If you like your new password, click Save or, if you change your mind, click Cancel.
Your new password will be effective immediately. To put your new password in your "remember" cookie, log out of your account, then log back in with your new password and check remember. If you don't do this and continue to play, you may get the login screen with "wrong password" at some point during your session. If that happens, just log back in with your new password.
Retrieving Your Password
If you forget your password, the log-in screen leading to any game will let you retrieve your password, by having it emailed to the email address in your member records. Just enter your Member ID, or the email address you used to register.
To protect your account, the system will ONLY email your password to the address in your account profile. If you need to change to a different email address, please edit your profile.
Protecting Your Password
- Never give your password to anyone. If you think someone has it, change it right away.
- When you are playing on someone else's PC or WebTV with your account, log out when you are finished to clear the "remember" cookie. If you don't, anyone who comes to Games4TV later on that box or PC will be able to get into your account.
- The password field displays dots for each character you enter, rather than the actual password (even though it is really there). This is for your protection, so that if someone is watching while you log in, they won't see your password on the screen.
