Text Only Signatures

Feel free to create your own text only signature. But we ask that it be positive, polite, short and suitable for all ages. Also, be sure to refer to Games4TV by it's proper name. Some people have given us a nickname of G4TV, but that's a different company. Also, if you enter the web address as shown, WebTV will convert it to a clickable link, even in text-only signatures. Below are some suggestions.

How to use these banners in your e-mail signature if you are using a WebTV / MSNTV
  1. Pick a banner, any banner.
  2. Put your selection box (or cursor) in the form containing the code you wish to use. (If it's not in the form box, you'll end up selecting the entire page.)
  3. Locate the CMD key on your keyboard. It means "Command" and it's used to send special instructions to your box, such as commands for copy, cut and paste. The CMD key should be in the lower left part of your keyboard.
  4. Push and hold the CMD button on your keyboard and tap the A key. Release all keys. This highlights the text in the form.
  5. Push and hold the CMD button on your keyboard and tap the C key. Release all keys. This will COPY the text to the clipboard. The clipboard is an invisible area of WebTV/MSNTV's memory that can temporarily store text.
  6. Hit the Mail key on your keyboard. This will activate the mail feature on WebTV/MSNTV.
  7. Click the Settings link at the top right of the screen.
  8. Click the link that says Signature.
  9. Push and hold the CMD button on your keyboard and tap the V key. Release all keys. This will PASTE the text from your clipboard into the form on the page.
  10. Click the button on the lower right of the screen that says Done.
  11. Send yourself a test e-mail. You will notice when you go to write your e-mail that there is now a signature. There is also a button next to it that says Remove signature. This will remove the signature for just this e-mail. You might want to do that if you write to a website for help, or if you have friends who don't like to see e-mail signatures.
  12. If you post to newsgroups, be sure that signatures are permitted. Some newsgroups don't like signatures. If that's the case just click the Remove signature button before you make your post.
  13. You can remove the banner permanently by starting at Step 6 and instead deleting the signature.

PC Users

There are so many different email programs, it's not possible for us to give detailed instructions for them all. But if your email client allows HTML signatures, the WebTV/MSN TV instructions should work. Just remember that YOU use the Ctrl key for copying and pasting, instead of the CMD key, and follow the instructions in your email program for putting in a signature.
