Using the Utilities

1. Connection Speed: If you're on a Plus or New Classic, you have a 56K connection. If it's any less than 48600, you may have noise on your phone line, or there may be a problem with the dialup number you're using, or the modem on the other side that's providing your connection to the Internet.

2. Status Board. MSNTV doesn't seem to update this very often, and things have to be pretty bad for lots of people before they post a note about it. But it's always a good idea to check, either from the Help Utility or here.

3. Resetting Cookies. Too many cookies, or corrupt cookies, CAN cause a problem with your box because they are loaded into your box memory. Pages may hang if they try to read a corrupt cookie. The MSNTV Utility gives you the ability to reset your cookies (delete them), and if that was the problem, resetting them will fix it. But it also will clear any settings that might be in your cookies, such as your "remember" cookie on Games4TV, so you'll have to log in and check "remember" again.
   Each of your email accounts has a different set of cookies, so resetting them on one account doesn't reset them for all accounts. If it is a cookie problem, you can try switching to another account to see if you still have the problem, before you reset the cookies.
